Here at #DGWichita, we have the best team. We're so proud of our staff and the excellent customer service we strive to provide. Besides putting the client first, our DG employees are hardworking and unique women with drives, passions, and goals both in the store and beyond. In our DG Spotlight series, we wanted to introduce you to the fabulous women who make up DG. First is our Formalwear Specialist, Alex! Alex is our Formal wear Specialist and tuxedo guru. She manages the Menswear department of Dress Gallery and was essential in expansion earlier this year. Her primary objective at DG is to make sure your men look good, which means she has an eye for detail and fit. She's super knowledgeable about menswear and trends, which makes her the ultimate tuxedo consultant when trying to navigate the big, scary world of formal wear. When she's not keeping the Menswear department running smoothly, she's an expert at helping prom and homecoming girls find their dream dance dress. Also love our fun and creative monthly window displays? That's mostly Alex! Alex has been with DG since June of 2017 and has quickly grown into an essential part of our world. (Hear that Alex? Don't ever leave us, Menswear needs you, we love you so much.) She helps keep the busy, bustling area of tuxedos in an orderly fashion! And she's a big advocate for making sure your guys don't go forgotten on your big day. "Outfitting your men with our rental menswear is the best idea because it's often an affordable option for most guys, plus we do all the hard, behind the scenes work for you to help the week of your wedding running smoothly! Having trained professionals on your side with menswear guarantees the men you love look perfect on your special day!" When asked why she loves being a DG Girl, Alex is all about the people. "I love all of the people," she said. "The customers, my coworkers, just generally getting to be around happy people during an important event in their lives. I also love seeing and hearing about all the local events, which makes me proud to be part of a small business." (Can we talk about how cute Alex and our Style Specialist, Hunter, are in their mini photoshoot? We're obsessed.) Alex worked in bridal previously before joining the DG staff. After seeing some trends come and go, she has a definite eye for which styles and fits are classic, while others are more trendy and modern. For upcoming wedding trends, Alex is most excited to see grooms and groomsmen embracing their individual styles. "I love the uniqueness we're seeing in menswear," Alex said. "Textures and patterns are becoming really prominent and I love seeing guy embrace their own style. Also, I'd love to have a bride or female prom court member rock a fabulous tuxedo for their look!" If Alex could give any advice to guys (and girls!) for tuxedo consultations, it's one simple thing - bring your fiance with you! They have an opinion and they matter in this decision. Pick something YOU feel comfortable in, but also will have your future spouse's tastes in mind, too. Also, you need to know things like wedding colors, florals, and more to help pick outfits to match. If you don't know those, you'll need your fiance!" Outside of DG world, Alex is finishing up her bachelor's degree at Wichita State. She's also an artist with a particular love for ceramics and pottery. Her and her husband, Austin, love going to museums! And because we're all foodies at DG, the quintessential question: what's your favorite Wichita restaurant? "Doo-Dah Diner, Espresso to Go Go, River City Brewery, and my current favorite is Dempsey's Biscuit Co," she said. "I love me a chicken sandwich."
