Our next featured #dgbride is Lakin, who married her soulmate Dominique on July 31, 2020 in an ultra dreamy mountainside ceremony, complete with scenic backdrops and the most gorgeous of weather!
Lakin & Dominique's original wedding date was scheduled for June, but they later had to change their plans due to the pandemic. Their wedding turned into an intimate ceremony in Boulder, CO. Lakin kept their wedding palette natural, with no specific colors except navy blue for Dominique. She let Mother Nature do most of the hard floral work!
Their original destination wedding featured a guest list of 50 people, but COVID tightened up their ranks. Instead, they turned their flexible wedding into a mini-mony and a fabulous party afterward!
Lakin chose a simply stunning lace Morilee fit-and-flare gown, accented with beaded spaghetti straps and light beading throughout the bodice. Her low maintenance train was perfect for pictures, but also climbing! Accented with soft blues, Lakin's gown was the best compliment to her down-to-earth personality.
Lakin went to three bridal stores before landing at Dress Gallery. "I felt like I had tried on a million dresses, but it was probably like 30," she said. "I knew I wanted a mermaid fitted gown to show off my figure and bling!"
Her Morilee gown was the perfect combination of understated yet elegant. After describing what she was looking for, her consultant pulled "The One" after only a few dresses.
"My girl Courtney hooked me up with privacy and customer service. She never went over my price range and she made me feel comfortable the whole time!"
Lakin's favorite memory from her wedding day had us rolling when she shared with us. Prior to the ceremony, Dominique was trying to moonwalk and broke his shoe. Like, the whole sole came off of the shoe. Everyone was roaring laughing, so he passed it around to have everyone sign. It became their unofficial second guestbook.
"We're never going to forget that memory!" Lakin said.
